Simplifying Interior Design One Home at a Time

Discover What HomeMuse Is All About

IT’S MORE THAN A JOB FOR US

We’re passionate about de-complex-ify-ing the design process.
It’s in our blood.

Little did I know it growing up, but the majority of my early life was pushing me towards a career in interior design.

When I was young, my Dad renovated every home we ever lived in. Yes — every single one. And when I was a teenager, he started buying investment properties to renovate and flip. In junior high and high school, when we weren’t working on our family farm, you could find my brother, sister, and I working on a renovation project with our Dad.

My mom was also quite the business owner, and she opened a shop in Janesville, WI  that my siblings and I still own to this day. Believe it or not, J&S Auto Care has been in business for over 30 years!

As much as entrepreneurship and renovation are in my blood, after college, I actually veered pretty far from my seemingly preordained career path. I ended up going to school for finance, and as an adult, I worked at an investment management company as a staff accountant and controller.  I’m proud to say that keeping track of budgets has always been one of my more refined skills.

All this time I was crunching numbers, though, I was still buying and flipping older homes in my spare time. Once I purchased the sixth one, I finally realized the whole renovation thing was a passion that wasn’t going to go away. So I gave in. HomeMuse officially opened in October 2021.

I started small, helping people on a shoestring choose paint colors or throw pillows. But that very quickly transitioned into a successful, full-time business in which I assisted homeowners and contractors with major renovations — from kitchen and baths all the way to complete home tune-ups.

Now, my mission has evolved even further. In an effort to make interior design as accessible as possible, I am now offering eDesign services that make it easy and hassle free to get exactly what they need when they need it. Because a functional, beautiful home shouldn’t just be for interior designers or the uber rich. And at HomeMuse, we help make it more attainable than ever.

NICE TO MEET YOU

Hi. I’m Erin, Founder of HomeMuse.

As the founder and creative director of an interior design agency, it’s funny to say this, but I never went to school for interior design. In fact, I have a degree in finance.

But design has always been my passion. My family had a home renovation company when I was young, and as I grew up, I parlayed everything I learned there into purchasing and redesigning my own classic homes. I’m passionate about maintaining historical integrity while helping homeowners get the modern functionality they need. And I’ve been told I’m great at immediately understanding and visualizing a space’s true potential. I’m a very spatial thinker, so it’s easy for me to walk into a room and guess dimensions, sizes, etc. For example, I can tell you the approximate square footage of a house in about two minutes flat.

Outside of work, I’m a mom of a six-year-old little boy named Ivan and a 4 year old daughter Jasa. We live in Seattle, Washington . And I love spending time with family and friends, being outdoors (in the perfect weather).

A few more things you should know about me:

  • Antiquing and rummage sales are my favorites.

  • My drink of choice is Pinot Noir, I am really into anything from the Walla Walla Valley currently.

  • You might find me spending too much money on chairs — the interior designer’s kryptonite.

  • My astrological sign is Libra; it’s all about balance for me!

  • My celebrity crush is Paul Rudd — ever since Clueless. And always.

  • I’m usually craving Italian food.

  • I don’t care where I am, if it’s 70-degree weather, I’m happy.

  • I have a boston terrier named Riley that lives with my brother, so i guess my brother has a boston terrier that I bought. Haha!

ARE WE A GOOD FIT?

What We Believe In

Our Vision:

To help homeowners build confidence in their ability to see past trends by understanding their personal tastes, how form and function work together, and why historical integrity is vital to the curation of a timeless, beautiful home.

Our Mission:

To make interior design easy and accessible for the majority of homeowners so that they feel a sense of control and calm even in the midst of a major remodel project.

Our Values

Growth

In everything we do, we seek to expand our understanding while educating others in the things at which we are expert. As lifelong learners, we know that there’s always something new to master, and we aim to be continuously growing.

Transformation

Just as we love to see homes transformed by the power of strategic design solutions, we also aim to continue to evolve as we grow. We don’t claim to know what the future holds, but we do know it will be challenging and expansive.

Longevity

We don’t go in for fly-by-night trends when it comes to interior design or any other aspects of our lives. We’re here for quality, workmanship, and classic beauty that will stand the test of time.

Hard work

While we definitely believe in work-life balance, we also believe there is something to be said for hard work and diligence. We work hard to ensure we deliver for our clients and each other.
